The 2017-2018 School Year As Told By #GeekyShirtFriday Photos!

As each week passes during the school year, I look forward to Fridays more than the average person. I love wearing a different geeky shirt each week to let my students peek into my world, learn about my interests, and let them know that it’s ok to let their geek flags fly!

My absolute favorite moment of the 2017-2018 school year was on February 9th, 2018. I wore a Bob Ross-Hello Kitty mashup shirt. As always, I quizzed my students to see if they knew what my shirt was all about. A few students said they recognized the dude who had painting videos on Youtube. I explained that he actually had a show on PBS when I was a kid but I was still glad they knew who he was. A student in the back row said that he was also wearing a Bob Ross tshirt. I lost myself in the moment and yelled “Shut up! Let me see it! Take off your sweatshirt!” He laughed and took off the sweatshirt. Sure enough, he was wearing a Bob Ross tshirt, too. What are the odds?! We took a selfie together and I sent it to his mother. I doubt any other #GeekyShirtFriday will top that moment!

I admit, I have a problem with purchasing new shirts for #GeekyShirtFriday. I’ve acquired a few more for the upcoming school year. I’ve never done a total count on them. I’d probably be embarrassed to admit how many I actually own. I can definitely span a whole year without repeating and I may be pretty darn close to two years. Eek!

Without further ado, here are the photos!
